Naked Strangers Social Lubricant EP

If you haven't heard of the Ullapool five-piece don't be a stranger.

A genuinely exciting rock band - which is something of a rarity these days. Singer Matt Stockl sounds like Jack White from The White Stripes and like the American offers a ragged blues howl as lyrics like "I saw myself standing in ashes on mountains of madness" from EP opener The Leap. The song starts off as a growling punk beast but soon develops into a psychedelic monster. It's epic and fantastic.

Second song King Grease then mashes up this style of rock with the cultural rap of My Chemical Romance. Army of Mum adds somesynthand a droning violin to a slower tempo number that once again offers you lyrics to make you stop and think.

This is quite simply a band you must hear.

They are playing at Pivo Pivo, Glasgow, tomorrow, and 13th Note, Glasgow Sept 3. Social Lubricant is available now - www.myspace.com/the nakedstrangers
